Hedylogos is The Ancient Greek God of sweet talking and our new Kitten!! We chose Hedylogos because this kitty does not stop purring and he is a Greek kitty. Of course he needs a greek name. Now I just have to learn how to pronounce it!
We didn’t intend to adopt him. We have a more then a few community cats that we care for (you can see them on their page.) We cant just adopt all of them, however like all cats tend to do, this one chose us. He is young enough to learn house manners and sweet enough that he is irresistible.
He’s only a few months old but the dominant male cat Ouranos was bullying him. He wanted to drive him out of his territory because it is kitty mating season. Jokes on Ouranos we are fixing the females all within the next 2 weeks. It just so happens they had this bad cat fight on our steps. Hubby was shouting at them and before I knew it little one was in my arms and safe inside.
We got him all set up in the attic until we could get him to the vets. We don’t want him to pass germs onto lola.
He also needs a bath, big time but that will wait before that because he needs a bit of time to acclimate to being an indoor kitty.
The next day we brought him to the Vets.
He has ear mites, the greek cat flue and needs to be dewormed. He was is a sick kitty, in adition to being full of pubcture wounds from getting in cat fights. They gave him a shot for the ear mites, medicine to deworm, and antibiotics for the greek cat flu. He cant get his vacinations until he is healthy so hopefull in 10 days. Then he will be neutered and then he can mingle with his big sister Lola in the whole house. Now he is quarantined in my art studio.
Three days later and he is feeling much better.
He lets me brush him, clean his ears, and use a dry cat shampoo to work on areas that are yellow. I have discovered that these areas are not dirt its blood. I gently wash it with a wet wipe and the shampoo, then I find a puncture wound that I put a dab of medicine on. Once he feels better from the antibiotics I will bath him properly.
He is looking so much better, and his red harness is quite sassy on him. He is also more playful. However I cant let him play to hard because he still has the cat flu and need to recover.
